We’re three months into the new year already. Feels like time has accelerated its speed – or is it just me?
I had to take a deep breath and a good look at how things are like for me. It’s a way I use a lot to stay connected to my truth and make sure I’m focusing my time and energy on what really matters to me.
Even though I’m probably the opposite of a Type-A personality, for me keeping up with my goals and projects is very important. What I know for sure is that not all the things I tried have worked for me, which led me to believe that some of them just don’t fit with how I’m built. Can you relate? Lists and tasks and complex “systems” just take away the spontaneity with which I like to live life, at least for the most part.
When we read about goal setting and other similar stuff, it’s easy to get excited. Because it feels GOOD to know we indeed have a chance to make things happen for ourselves. We feel inspired and throw ourselves head in. Think New Year’s resolution kind of excited.
Then, life shows up. The kid gets sick, the project gets pushed, we doubt ourselves… it can be whatever. And we get thrown off course.
If the initial excitement wasn’t backed up by a good dose of resilience – another great skill to learn – and the ability to go with the flow, the initial momentum begins to slow down dramatically. The idea of starting over often feels like a daunting task.
So I wanted to share something here that I think it’s helpful. Something I’ve learned by observing my own wisdom – when I don’t stumble on my own ego’s feet.
I’ve learned that when I unstick myself from the “I should already be there by now” and open up to what’s here, right now instead, I’m able to flow together with where the Universe is taking me.
Because we set intentions, decide our goals, make projects and write down lists, but we often forget there’s a higher power at work. It would be useful to remember that there’s a bigger plan we set ourselves up for before coming here. And no, I’m not talking about “destiny”.
Let’s put it this way. It’s like having to go from New York to San Francisco. How many different routes and means of transportation could we actually take? We have plenty of options, right? Same thing here. We’re going to reach our destination, and there isn’t just one way to do it.
When I remember that the Universe has probably a better plan, ideas, and resources to take me where I’m headed, I can let go of that useless sense of control and relax into life.
And this feels way more comfortable, pleasant and magic then pushing through closed doors and force obstacles off the way. Not to mention that I’ll keep that joy alive more easily than when I’m out to prove something to myself.
When we decided about our journey here on earth, we had let’s say a bird-eye view on it. Now we’re “down here” and most of the times, vaguely remember an overall purpose. Let alone the rest. So if it feels like you can’t really put all your ducks in a line, check within and see if you might be stuck into this idea of being someone you’re not and maybe judging yourself harshly for it. I know when we learn to flow with life, life opens up in unexpected, at time wondrous ways.
Last December I’ve self-published a little workbook on this subject. To be precise, it’s a simple process to take the fret away and keep the joy in place when we go about living life intentionally, including goals and everything else. I’m already expanding on it.
And, if you’re sensitive to the subject and know you’d like to figure out HOW to actually live and create consciously, please join me for the free calls I’ll be offering later this month.
They’re completely free for you, won’t last more than 40 minutes overall and I’ll be going through some of the steps that could help you shift to a flowing attitude. I’ll guide you in some meditations and answer any question you might have.
You’re tired of feeling unfocused, have tried some traditional goal-setting stuff without really getting where you wanted. Deep down, you know there’s a better way to live and co-create with life.
I believe every day is a good day to start again.
